Biography
Supriyo Bandyopadhyay is Commonwealth Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor of Physics at Virginia Commonwealth University where he directs the Quantum Device Laboratory. Research in this laboratory has been frequently featured in the national and international media for groundbreaking advances in optics, electronics, nanoscale self-assembly, spintronics and computing paradigms. Prof. Bandyopadhyay is the author or co-author of over 300 scientific publications, co-author of some 20 book chapters, and has written two textbooks, one of which is the only textbook in spintronics. He has also given over 100 invited, keynote and plenary talks at workshops, universities and international conferences across four continents. Prof. Bandyopadhyay serves or has served on the editorial boards of twelve international journals and was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer during the period 2002-2011. He is a recipient of the Virginia Commonwealth University Distinguished Scholarship award, the highest award for scholarship given by the university to one faculty member every year. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Electrochemical Society, the Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
